The 11th Annual Quicken Loans Season of Winter Magic at Campus Martius Park Hosts “WJR’s 49th Annual Christmas Sing” as it Returns to Downtown Detroit!

“Showcase D’Holidays” enters its final two weeks with newly featured restaurants and musical headliners; holiday shopping continues at Somerset Collection CityLoft

DETROIT, Mich., December 8, 2014 – Returning to Detroit as part of Quicken Loans Season of Winter Magic presented by Detroit 300 Conservancy, “WJR’s 49th Annual Christmas Sing” will be held this Friday, December 12 at Campus Martius Park. Other holiday festivities continue with the first annual “Showcase D’Holidays” bringing newly featured restaurants and musical headliners for two more weekends along with shopping at Somerset Collection CityLoft, ice skating at The Rink, horse-drawn carriage rides and street performers.

“WJR’s 49th Annual Christmas Sing” celebrates Christmas in the City with Christmas stories and a caroling sing-a-long hosted by WJR’s Paul W. Smith and Santa! It all happens in the Showcase D’Holidays tent starting at 5 p.m. with a live broadcast on Talk 760 WJR of a Special Edition: “Opportunity Detroit” hosted by Paul W. Smith, Mitch Albom and Steven Piazza. Caroling follows from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. This free event sponsored by DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan offers fun for all ages.

Entering its last two weeks, “Showcase D’Holidays” brings new offerings of featured restaurants and musical acts adding to the festive entertainment lineup of more than 40 musical performances over its total five weekends. Cadillac Square in Campus Martius Park will heat up with four restaurants per weekend and four bands per night on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. Food service will be available from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.Not only will guests be warmed up with delicious tastings from The Whitney, Slow’s BBQ, Joe Muer’s Seafood, Fountain Bistro and more, but they’ll experience it in the confines of a block long, heated tent in Cadillac Square. Musical headliners for this weekend are Thornetta Davis on December 12 and Hotsauce on December 13. Next weekend features Amp Fiddler on December 19 and Corktown Popes on December 20, plus performances from other top Detroit acts.

Bringing a magical holiday shopping destination to downtown Detroit, Somerset Collection CityLoft continues at the First National Building, 660 Woodward Avenue. Partnering with Bedrock Real Estate Services, it features nearly 40 Somerset retailers, including 7 for All Mankind, Aveda, The Body Shop, The Buckle, Cache, Eddie Bauer, Icing, Lego, Lilly Pulitzer, Lacoste, Paradise Pen, Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids, Ralph Lauren, Swarovski, The Detroit Shoppe, Thomas Pink, plus live DJs, carolers and more. Open through December 23, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
