EAT: Espresso/fresh baked almond croissant from Cannelle. Best to enjoy outside.

EXPLORE/SHOP: John K. King used and rare books. Every time I visit, I leave with a new book about the history of Detroit. And each time I learn something new and get to know my city even better. This is a great date idea! Venture into the store and just see what sparks your eye. I’ve also taken people new to Detroit here and they’re always impressed.

DRINK: Pre-dinner cocktail and small plates at Leila.

EXPLORE/DRINK: Stop for a glass of wine at the Aloft Hotel Bar inside the David Whitney building. Must enjoy in the lobby to gaze up at the amazing ceiling. Always in awe of that architecture.

EAT: Vicente’s for Paella and/or Chili Mustard Onions! This is my VEGAN FAV!! Never eaten something quite as convincing as “The Big Mock.”

EAT: Huddle soft serve for dessert.

LISTEN: Cliff Bell’s Jazz Club for live music.

DRINK: Buhl Bar for a nightcap.
